The History

Like all great success stories, it began with a passion, turned into an obsession, and transformed into a booming business. Terri Weitzman frequented the Fred Segal blending bar, mixing up intoxicating oil blends that would have people stopping her in the street to ask, "what are you wearing?" She quickly realized that she had a gift for combining fragrances and creating scents that were unlike the heavily perfumed options offered at the typical beauty counters. From the overwhelming response she received from every passerby she also came to realize people were craving something that just wasn't on the market and she began to get serious about turning her passion into a business.

After nearly ten years of hunting down rare and captivating oils, and experimenting with blends, Terri learned the art of mixing and how to identify what combinations would bring out distinct and imaginative scents with an inspiring yet subtle power. Instead of taking over a room, her fragrances would draw you in to the person as though it was a part of them rather than a spritz from a bottle. This amazing talent gave birth to her wildly popular original line Fresh Scents by Terri, which included Breathe, the fragrance that established a star following and ultimately the birth of Terri Michele Fragrances.

The Love Affair

Michele was so passionate about Breathe that she felt compelled to meet the designer and purchase it in bulk. When she finally found Terri, her fragrance business had suddenly blossomed into more than she could handle alone and the two felt destined to join forces. They decided to combine their passion and talent and create Terri Michele Fragrances. Beginning with the fragrance that started the love affair, they worked with top perfumers to locate the highest quality essential oils and reformulate Breathe to develop their debut fragrance, Shenandoah ($30 - $68). The name reflects the clean, aquatic qualities of the beloved classic.

Believing that everything in life must come from passion, Terri and Michele set to create a product that was beautiful both inside and out. Beyond decorating the packaging to reflect the fragrance's beauty, they also set to create a product that was truly eco-conscious. Knowing that not all areas have proper recycling facilities the Terri Michele Fragrances team searched bottles created from post consumer regrind (PCR). They are proud to present their lotions and body washes in bottles made entirely of repurposed milk jugs, or HDPE. Terri and Michele understand that glass can be recycled over and over again. Therefore, they encourage to recycle fragrance bottles.



Review: I had a opportunity to try out the Shenandoah Roll-On Perfume Oil ($30). This fragrance is made up of a wide range of delicate floral notes (Bergamot, White Lily, Ylang Ylang, Freesia, Lotus, Sandalwood, and White Musk) that produces a clean, soft and romantic scent. I thought it would be a bit overpowering with the White Musk. However, this perfume oil is very subtle and lingers on throughout the day. I believe this perfume is perfect for all ages. This company has won another fan. I definitely look forward to their other scents that will be coming soon: Keana, Jia Li, and Noelani. They're also working on a new collection for men. At the time being, I highly recommend the Shenandoah. It is the perfect scent that will not disappoint - timeless, classic, and ageless!
