Joya’s wax comes from palm oil kernels; it is extracted and refined through pressing and crushing, rather than the use of chemical solvents. They consider this wax to be organic because it is grown without the use of drugs or hormones. It is a 100% natural food-grade renewable resource. Unlike candles made of typical paraffin wax, Joya is completely free of petroleum products and additives. Entirely vegetable based, our wax exemplifies the simple and healthful return to nature at the heart of an organic lifestyle. Of course, they only use cotton wicks. The natural stearic acid in our candles creates a stunning white flame that, if used correctly (trim your wicks!), won’t produce smoke.

Joya partnered with ceramic design artist Sarah Cihat to bring you the Perfume in Porcelain Collection. Each organic candle is comprised of essential oils, soy and beeswax and is housed within an edgy porcelain vessel.

Review: I honestly wasn't sure what I would think of the scent ($48 at The Green Lotus). However, I wanted to give this particular scent a try since I noticed the unique fragrant notes. Plus, I hardly ever see a black candle. The packaging alone is enough to draw anyone in. This candle smells heavenly with notes of marine algae, sea kelp, lotus blossom and sweet musk. This candle burns evenly and slowly. The scent is very light and smells summerish - a day at the beach on a summer's day. It is perfect for anyone who suffer from allergies or have breathing problems. I fall in the latter category. It makes ambiance of the room welcoming and relaxed. I like how once the candle is gone, you can reuse the porcelain vessel for votive or bud vase. The vessel is beautifully etched with an octopus. This candle would make a wonderful gift. You can never go wrong with a wonderfully scented candle that comes in beautiful packaging!
