Cosmopolitan Magazine is partnering with Maybelline New York and the United Service Organizations (USO) for the second year in a row to collect and deliver “Kisses for the Troops.” On Thursday, November 11th (Veterans Day) Cosmopolitan will build a Kiss Station on Military Island and invite the public to give a kiss on a postcard for a cause – our troops - which will ultimately be delivered to those serving in Iraq and Afghanistan just in time for New Year’s Eve. Cosmopolitan and Maybelline New York will donate one dollar for each kiss collected to the USO.

Malin Akerman, actress and star of Couples Retreat, 27 Dresses, The Romantics, Watchmen, The Proposal, Harold & Kumar and more will join Cosmopolitan and the USO in Times Square to help collect kisses for the servicemen and women.

“The outpouring of love for our troops overseas last year was overwhelming,” says Donna Kalajian Lagani, publisher, Cosmopolitan. “We’re excited to ask our Cosmopolitan readers to pucker up for the second year to help Maybelline and the USO collect even more kisses for troops.”

“We are very excited to be partnering with Cosmo again on this great initiative to give back to military service members,” says Brian Whiting, President and CEO, USO Metropolitan of New York. “These ‘love notes’ of encouragement may seem like a small gesture but they’re actually a huge moral booster for troops stationed far from home.”

Maybelline New York will be providing various shades of Color Sensational lipstick in the Kiss Station to create the lip prints.

"Maybelline New York is honored to be partnering with Cosmopolitan Magazine and the USO for the second year in a row for the Kiss the Troops event,” says David Greenberg, President of Maybelline New York Garnier. “Maybelline New York and our Color Sensational Lipcolor is happy to do what we can to brighten the day of our troops overseas.”

Consumers who can’t make it to the event can still be a part of the mission by “kissing” a postcard virtually via a digital application. Consumers can log on to http://www.cosmopolitan.com/kisses or Cosmo’s Facebook page, upload a photo of themselves and write a note of thanks. Their “kiss” will also count towards the USO donation and be sent to the troops.

To further the mission, consumers can show their support for the USO via a TEXT2GIVE program element. By texting “KISS” to 85944 consumers will be able to donate $10 to the USO to support the incredible work they do for our troops and their families.
