The impeccably styled know the magic of Frédéric Fekkai, and so does the beauty world. Tuesday morning Procter & Gamble announced its plans to purchase Frédéric Fekkai & Co. for an undisclosed amount. P&G acquired the brand from Catterton Partners, a private equity firm; their management partner Chrysallis helped develop the line.

"Our goal is to preserve the integrity of the Fekkai business, products and salons as sources of new product inspiration and consumer understanding," said Craig Bahner, P&G's vice president and general manager for North America Hair Care. "We see an opportunity to learn from and build this unique business model."

The brand is experiencing a period of significant growth, with salons in SoHo, Dallas, Beverly Hills, Melrose Place and Palm Beach. Others are set to open in Greenwich and on the Upper East Side. "Over the past 20 years, we have redefined luxury and set new standards for product innovation and exceptional personalized service," said Fekkai. "I look forward to building on this success with a partner who shares our vision of creating a truly global brand that is synonymous with creativity, elegance and style."

Though P & G owns other hair care lines like Pantene, Head & Shoulders and Wella, Frédéric Fekkai, which is currently sold at select high end department stores and Sephora outposts nationwide, will enable them to compete in the luxury prestige hair product category.
